This falls into other celebrations I hope. Being mother's day and all.

Bear with me here. this joke delves into "overthinking a cartoon" territory.

Twilight hatched Spike as a test to get into magic school. He is still with her after all this time so I think it is fair to say she raised him. Having been his hatcher and caregiver makes Twilight the closest thing to a Mother Spike has.

"It also explains my Freudian attraction to Unicorns."

Now Twilight couldn't hat the egg alone. Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom somehow gave Twilight the boost she needed. So Dash was also involved in hatching Spike so she must be his father.

"Hey you know what that means Spike?"
"Dare I ask?"
"Back when Discord invaded...You became your own Father!"
